The Tsar’s daughter Vasha is bored. She doesn’t care about her privileged palace life; instead, she is obsessed with writing poetry and with the purity of the Russian poor, especially a particular activist Yevgeny. The Tsar will only permit her to travel with Yevgeny to the Crimea if she is truly poor – he takes all her wealth from her. But then the realities of a poverty-stricken existence as the partner of a man who cares more about his activism that about her start to bear down on her…
